Escalloped Apples

I started making this delicious apple dish years ago after having them at a local restaurant. I never really looked for a recipe-this is just how I've done them. They're really good as a side or on top of vanilla ice cream for dessert (just let them cool slightly). I made these while visiting some dear friends in their beautiful state of Vermont recently. Everyone loved them and there wasn't a single chunk left so you'll want to make a big batch of these!

4 pounds of sweet-tart apples (I used Ginger-Gold)
peeled, cored and cut into 1-inch chunks
4 tablespoons, more or less, butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon, or more, ground cinnamon

In a large, nonstick skillet, heat the butter over medium heat. Saute apples until crisp-tender, abut 10 minutes. Lastly, sprinkle sugar and cinnamon over apples, stirring constantly until you get a nice syrup. Serve immediately.
