Rancher David's One-Pot Dinner

We have a friend who's a real live cowboy! He made this one night for one of our get-togethers. The original recipe is from Mr. and Mrs. David Gates, singer and rancher. It is delicious! It's a perfect fall dish and would be great to make while camping. Add a salad, some skillet cornbread, apple pie and you've got a great meal!

1/2 to 1 pound ground beef
3/4 pound bacon, cut into small pieces
1 cup chopped onions
2 cans pork and beans (1 pound, 15 ounces each)
1-16 ounce can kidney beans, drained
1-16 ounce can butter limas, drained
1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon liquid smoke
3 tablespoons white vinegar
1 teaspoon salt
dash of pepper

Brown the ground beef in a skillet; drain off excess drippings. Place beef in a crock pot. Brown bacon and onions; drain. Add bacon, onions, and remaining ingredients to the pot. Stir together well. Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours.
